Jill Spiewak Eng started her dance career performing in Boston, under Christien Polos' Ariel Dance Theatre, from 1989-1991. From 1992-1996, Jill danced in Durham, NC, where she performed for Clay Taliaferro of the Jose Limon Company, Amy Chavasse, Annie Griffiths, Killian Manning, Irva Hertz-Piccoto, and others.

Jill has received scholarships from the American Dance Festival and Jacob's Pillow, founded a dance collective in NC called Independent Dancemakers, and has produced several dance concerts in New York and Maine. While in NYC, from 1996-2001, Jill performed her work and others' at Judson Church, The Limon Studio, University Settlement, Purchase College, Tribeca Performing Arts Center, Movement Research, 550 Broadway and the Field.

In Maine, Jill was the founder and artistic director of Jill Eng/Forward and Up Dance Company from 2005-2007, and she collaborated extensively with Carol Dilley (Director of Dance at Bates College) from 2004-2009, as well as other local artists. In addition to their abundant performance locally, Dilley & Eng showed their work at the Bates Dance Festival, Dance New Amsterdam in NYC, and The Dance Gallery at The Ailey Citigroup Theater in NYC. Jill actively produces her own solo work, practices contact improvisation with Carl Rudman, and has most recently performed works of Sarah McCormick and Sara Smith, both of NYC.

Jill has been teaching dance since 1989 throughout Boston, North Carolina and Maine. In Maine her teaching sites have included New Dance Studio, Bowdoin and Bates Colleges, and The Center for Movement Education. Jill is also a certified teacher in The Alexander Technique in which she currently offers lessons at The Center for Movement Education (Portland), and periodically at True North Health Center (Falmouth)and Center Studio and Spa (Freeport).
